About Dr. Cornman-Homonoff

A radiology expert witness who still practices, teaches, and publishes.

Dr. Cornman-Homonoff is an Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology at Yale School of Medicine and Medical Director of Interventional Radiology at the West Haven VA Medical Center. He is board certified in both Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.

He is a prolific researcher and widely published author with 67 peer-reviewed publications and chapters spanning hepatic intervention, pulmonary embolism thrombectomy, portal hypertension, IVC filter management, and vascular access — along with numerous invited national and international lectures. Because he continues to practice, teach, and publish in interventional and diagnostic radiology at a major academic medical center, his opinions reflect the current, real-world standard of care rather than a retrospective or purely academic view.

Attorneys retain Dr. Cornman-Homonoff for clear, well-organized medical opinions on imaging interpretation, procedural technique, and complication management — delivered in plain language a jury can follow.

Areas of Expertise

Litigation-relevant clinical expertise, drawn from active practice.

Each area below reflects procedures Dr. Cornman-Homonoff performs and has published on — the same subject matter most often at issue in vascular, hepatic, and pulmonary malpractice and injury claims.

01

Portal Hypertension & TIPS

Standard-of-care review for TIPS placement, shunt reduction, and management of variceal hemorrhage and refractory ascites in patients with portal hypertension and liver disease.

02

Pulmonary Embolism Thrombectomy

Delay-to-diagnosis, treatment selection, and outcomes review for intermediate- and high-risk PE, including large-bore mechanical thrombectomy versus catheter-directed thrombolysis.

03

Hepatic Tumor Embolization

Review of transarterial embolization, portal vein embolization, and liver-directed therapy technique in hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic disease cases.

04

IVC Filter Placement & Retrieval

Evaluation of filter selection, placement technique, retained-filter management, and complications arising from delayed or failed retrieval.

05

Vascular Access & Thrombectomy

Standard-of-care analysis for central and peripheral venous access, catheter-associated thrombus, and access-site injury.

06

Percutaneous Gastrostomy & GI Intervention

Technique and complication review for percutaneous radiologic gastrostomy placement, including bowel injury and other procedure-related adverse events.

Case Experience & Support

Where imaging and interventional technique become the case.

Dr. Cornman-Homonoff has published directly on the complications and clinical scenarios that most often drive medical malpractice and personal injury claims in interventional and diagnostic radiology, including:

Delayed or missed pulmonary embolism diagnosis

Recognition, risk stratification, and timing of intervention in intermediate- and high-risk PE.

IVC filter complications

Retained filters, migration, and embolic protection during complicated retrieval.

Bowel injury during gastrostomy tube placement

Technique review for percutaneous radiologic gastrostomy and related bowel injury case series.

Vertebral augmentation complications

Paravertebral pseudoaneurysm formation and other post-procedural vascular injury.

TIPS & portal hypertension management

Variceal hemorrhage, ascites management, and shunt-related complications.

Hepatic & pulmonary tumor embolization outcomes

Technique selection and outcome review in liver-directed and pulmonary tumor embolization.

01
Medical Record Review

Comprehensive review of imaging, procedural notes, and clinical course.

02
Standard of Care Opinions

Written opinions on causation and standard of care, plaintiff or defense.
